Mike was born and raised in the Chicagoland area, and has spent the last twenty years learning the intricacies of composing, performing, and teaching the guitar. He's well versed in most contemporary styles of music, and is always on the lookout for new challenges to his playing. He has studied with a variety of musicians, most notably Dave Uhrich, who has taught at The American Conservatory of Music and Roosevelt University, among others.

In addition to teaching, Mike has gained extensive stage and studio experience performing with a variety of Chicago-based bands such as Intuition and SBS.

In 1992, he was the winner of the "Chicago's Finest Guitarist" competition, with sponsors that included Fender, Peavey, and Guitar Player Magazine. He was also featured in the "Spotlight" column in the April 1994 issue of Guitar World Magazine. In 1998, Mike–with his band SBS– won the Kool/H.O.R.D.E. competition hosted by the House of Blues. Boosted by a winning margin of more than 300% above the second place band, SBS played gigs on the HORDEFEST tour with acts such as Blues Traveler, Paula Cole, Government Mule, Bare Naked Ladies, and many others. SBS also released a self-titled CD on Rip Records.

Since leaving SBS, Mike has kept busy teaching, doing session work, gigging with a variety of projects, programming and orchestration for artists including metal band Beneath Me, and composing his own music.

Mike takes a flexible approach to teaching, balancing his instructions between the academic, technical, and creative aspects of music and the guitar. Although he likes to stay goal-oriented, he tailors his lessons to the goals and ability of each individual. Mike feels a friendly and relaxed atmosphere is most conducive to a positive learning experience and tries to make each student feel comfortable.

Nate Pusateri - drums
Nate Pusateri is a Chicago based drummer who teaches and performs music throughout Chicagoland. Nate has studied music at Appalachian State University, and the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. He has studied drums and music with Byron Hedgepeth from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, and with renowned Chicago teacher Sol Garnier, amongst others. Nate currently performs with the Chicago bands Eversojake, and Rendezvous. He also shares his passion for drums and music teaching in Chicago area music stores as well as his private studio. Nate also enjoys accompanying modern dance classes at the Chicago Academy for the Arts, and well being the house drummer for St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Chicago.
